We’re celebrating receiving one of the highest business accolades in the UK..
We are delighted to announce that today, 21 April 2016; we have been chosen as one of the select few businesses recognised as winners of the 2016 Queen’s Award for Enterprise - the UK’s highest accolade for business achievement. Our award was received for International Trade which is a magnificent achievement for our small team and represents a significant milestone on how much Bibby Maritime has grown since it began trading in 1983.
For over 30 years we have provided floating, shore side accommodation to major projects around the world in the Oil & Gas, Construction & Shipping industries to name a handful. Our barges are easily towed from contract to contract leaving no negative legacy issues or footprint to show that hundreds of people once lived in the location on-board one of the vessels. As a company we have invested over £20m in our fleet of accommodation barges over the last four years and we have moved from being a value, no-frills operator, to being a service provider for clients wanting budget hotel standard comfort with on-board kitchens, restaurants, bars, laundries, offices and leisure facilities with WiFi throughout.
One of the major reasons for our recent success is establishing ourselves in the Australian market, which has grown from 0% of our revenues in 2010 to 75% in 2014. During this time, overseas sales have grown from £19m to £33m, which represents an overall growth of 73%. Along with this, we commissioned a leading independent consultant to carry out a life-time carbon emissions analysis to assess the environmental impact of our floating accommodation units and compare them with similar land-based accommodation, which are amongst our main competition and we found that our vessels are up to 27% more environmentally friendly.
