Following our Queen's Award win, we were invited to Buckingham Palace..
On Thursday 14th July 2016, Jane Rogers, Accommodation Manager and Callum Stone, Marketing Assistant, took the train down to London to attend the prestigious Reception held at Buckingham Palace with the Queen herself and the Duke of Edinburgh present. We announced that we had been honoured with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise for our International Trade achievements in April this year and the Reception gave all winners a unique opportunity to meet the Queen and other members of the Royal Family.
Representatives from over 250 companies were at the Palace for the 51st consecutive year of the awards existence and were escorted around the Palace Square and up to the State Rooms where Her Majesty spent the evening speaking to various individuals about their respective businesses.
While speaking to Princess Eugenie of York, Jane explained the concept of an accommodation barge, which the Princess called ‘amazing’ and asked humorously if it were possible to go on holiday on-board one of the vessels.
Although mobile phones were prohibited for taking photographs inside the Palace, we managed to get a selection of snaps right outside the main entrance and in the Square. “It was completely surreal standing right next to the Queen and being inside such a famous place, I’m really proud to have had such a rare opportunity to represent Bibby Maritime and the Group as a whole at the Reception” said Jane.
Bibby Maritime will be receiving their Rose Bowl and Scroll of Association for the award on the 23rd August 2016. They will be presented by the Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside and displayed in our head office in Duke Street, Liverpool.
